This necklace was handmade in the 1940's by Santa Domingo artists well known for their bead work. The piece features Turquoise, Red Coral, and Natica stones. Heishi necklaces are traditionally worn by both men and women, the stones thought to have healing properties, and were a standard piece of art that many Native Americans wore.
