Born in 1957, his work is deeply rooted in his family’s long tradition of silversmithing. Born in Albuquerque and raised on the Navajo Nation his family had a long tradition of the craft. He learned from his mother Helen Chavez. Platero is best known for his precise and intricate hand stamped designs which he creates using his own personal collection of handmade silver stamps.
