Phillip Begay
Born 1969, Phillip Begay comes from a family of renowned silversmiths including his father, Richard Begay, and his uncles, Victor Beck, Patrick Taylor, and James Little. At 14, Phillip learned the craft from his father starting with small tasks like polishing and finishing pieces. Today, he specializes in sterling silver and 14K gold jewelry utilizing various techniques including overlay, applique, stampwork and intricate inlay. His philosophy, inspired by his grandparents, is rooted in “Hozho” , the Navajo concept of balance, harmony, and everything being connected, a philosophy he strives to convey in his art.
